INDIA vs BANGLADESH
OVAL, LONDON
Indian Team's confidence will be sky high after their victory over New Zealand in the first warm-up match, when they take on Bangladesh in the 2nd and final warm-up match before kicking off their campaign in quest of defending the title, against Pakistan on 4th June.
Indian bowlers were on the button, right from the word go that helped them to bowl New Zealand out for a paltry score of 189. Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli looked good and they made good use of the perfect batting conditions after the rain delay, which allowed them to chase a revised target of 129. After a rigorous season of IPL, switching from T20 mode to 50 over format was extremely important and the short outing in the middle would have done a world of good.
Now coming back to the match against Bangladesh. One positive from India's point of view is that they have Rohit Sharma to open the innings for them. After having missed the match against the Kiwis, it will be much a needed practice for Rohit ahead of the crucial opening encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Bangladesh would be looking to make full use of the opportunity to make life difficult for teams like England, Australia and New Zealand in their group and especially with their opening match, incidentally being the tournament opener against England just two days away, they would be raring to put a good show in the middle. Likes of Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mashrafe Mortaza would be looking to play to their potential and bring smiles on the faces of their supporters back home.
All said and done, an intriguing contest is on the cards with both the teams looking to get ahead of one another and get into the tournament high on confidence.
